A two-semester course sequence (82-371, 82-372) for advanced-level students. This course emphasizes the acquisition of effective use of oral and written Japanese through readings, interviews with native speakers, class discussions, oral presentations, and writing assignments. Students should be able to advance not only their Japanese language skills but also their understanding of contemporary Japan. Prerequisite: 82-271/82-272 or approved equivalent.
