Carnival Opening Brings Warm Weather
Apr 19, 2007 7:20 pm | by Ishita Kapur

It's that time of the year again. Eagerly awaited and enthusiastically anticipated, Spring Carnival 2007 has finally arrived! The Carnival opened on April 19, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Midway in the Morewood Parking Lot. Dean Church welcomed the members of the Carnegie Mellon Community to the festivities. This was followed by the official inauguration of Carnival by President Cohon.

Both President Cohon and Dean Church echoed feelings of pride that the hardworking Carnival committee brings to the campus. They applauded the efforts of all students and organizations involved in Carnival for envisioning and undertaking this ambitious project every year and making it a success.

The speech from the President was followed by the CMU's proud bagpipe tradition as the band marched around the booths at Midway. Next, the Kiltie band conducted by Paul Gerlach presented many pieces that captivated not only students but also alumni of the Kiltie band here for Carnival. These included a March Processional Caucus, Amazing Grace by John Newton, Overture in B flat by Giovannini, First Suite for Military Band in E flat by Gustav Holst and closed the performance with 'Clowns'.

With that concluded the opening ceremony for Carnival. The next 4 days make the Carnegie Mellon Experience unique and complete. So soak in the fun and make some memories!
