The fashion show featured both professional and student designers. In the first half of Lunar Gala, HSS sophomore Jamie Song and CFA first-year Steve Lim’s line “Disstasteful” was a colorful collection of umbrellas and underwear, seemingly embodying the song “Singin’ In The Rain.” CFA sophomore Katie Rodgers’ line “Extreme Compost” attempted to capture the idea of using simple materials that people use or see everyday to create fashionable wear. Her dress designs were the standout, with fun, wearable looks that were appealing even to the not-so-fashionably-inclined. Tepper sophomore Eva Lin and BSA sophomore Tori Spindel’s line “Exception” was inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter, and blended together red and white coloring to create a daring, edgy look. For her clothing line, CFA sophomore Lea Albaugh created a new-age-y look of DayGlo polyester as well as electroluminescent wire for a cool, futuristic feel.
The second act featured CFA junior Koo Ho Shin's line "Aim High," which presented a sort of shock-art approach to fashion, featuring animalistic costumes, some of which inspired thoughts of sorcery and desire. CFA first-year Gavin Stewart and CFA sophomore Joannie Wu's line "Ex[strap]olation" experimented with normal societal icons, putting an interesting spin on the typical male-female balance. CFA juniors Josh Cummings and Kiko Restrepo's line ".exude" was a display of different styles of denim, with a cutting-edge feel. CFA juniors Sophia Berman and Alicia Pompei's "Societal Epidemic" line took street chic to the max, using fashion to demonstrate their interest in the numbness of sexuality, the binding issue of poverty, and the spreading problem of over-consumption.
