Booth and Ralphie May
Apr 15, 2005 12:54 am | by James Chan

Early in the day on Thursday, the annual Buggy Design Competition was held at the Wiegand Gymnasium in the University Center. Apart from the judging process, it was a chance for the teams to showcase their buggy artwork to the public before their buggies get put to the test during the heats and finals over the next two days. Results for the Buggy Design Competition will be announced together with the final Buggy results on Saturday.

While Booth opened with much fanfare, quite a few booths called for downtime in order to finish their work. Alpha Epsilon Pi was unable to make up for the setback that they suffered during Move On, and was seen working frantically on their booth under the 3:00 p.m. sun, together with traditional contenders Delta Upsilon and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Long lines were also seen outside Phi Kappa Theta's House of Fear.

Later on, as the sun retreated beneath the horizon, crowds gathered under the Main Tent to await stand-up comedian Ralphie May's performance. Well-known for his appearances on Celebrity Fit Club, Last Comic Standing, and for being the first comedian to entertain United States troops in Iraq, Ralphie May came with quite a reputation and certainly lived up to it, making up for the chill of the night with his warm humor. The audience lapped up every one of his belly-aching, side-splitting, sexually, politically, and religiously incorrect jokes, up until the very end, so much so that chants of "Ralphie!" emanated from parts of the crowd even as he walked off the stage.
