Did you know that you can increase the allocated space for your e-mail and Andrew file system? By default we're given 25 MB for e-mail storage and 50 MB for files. But if you're in your fifth year like me, or are saving all of your e-mails, that wee bit of space just won't cut it. Increasing your quota is as easy as pie and you don't have to deal with any Computing Services people to do it. Simply follow the steps below and feel the freedom:
- Go to http://www.cmu.edu/myandrew
- Scroll down to Account Management and click on Increase Your Quota
- Login to WebISO if you haven't already
There you go; the rest is up to you. You'll see the amount of space you are currently using and the amount by which you can increase it. No more annoying messages telling you you're at 90 percent quota when you open up Mulberry. No more friends yelling at you because the e-mail they tried to send you bounced back. No more needing to save your final report on your Andrew space only to find that it's maxed out.
I've gone back to this page a few times over the course of a year and found that I have a higher maximum allowed quota each time. I'm up to 200 MB now and only using 62 percent of my e-mail space and 66 percent of my file space, so I'm satisfied. How much space do you have?
