Alumni e-mail forwarding for life
Apr 26, 2004 7:30 pm | by Lindsey Quinn Arroyo

Did you know that Carnegie Mellon offers lifetime e-mail forwarding to alumni? With commencement just around the corner, graduating seniors may want to set up an alumni account now so that when the University cancels their Andrew IDs sometime next August, they can get their e-mail sent to their new email addresses.

The Alumni E-mail Forwarding for Life service allows you to create an “alias” for yourself that represents a lifetime e-mail address. When you register your real e-mail address with the Carnegie Mellon alumni database, your alias will automatically forward all e-mail to your new account, whether it’s located at AOL, Earthlink, Comcast, or any other Internet Service Provider. Whenever you switch schools, locations, or jobs, and your e-mail address also changes, you can adjust your Alumni E-mail settings so that your alias will forward all mail to your new address.

To set up your own Alumni E-mail Forwarding for Life, visit http://www.cmu.edu/alumni/online/email.html. You will be asked to enter your current Andrew ID and password, and you will then be allowed to choose a new alumni ID. Your new account will be located @alumni.carnegiemellon.edu — for example, AndyMellon@alumni.carnegiemellon.edu — and everything sent to it will be forwarded to the e-mail address of your choice.
